Vitamin A in Bone Metabolism

Vitamin A in Bone Metabolism The Role of Vitamin A in Bone Metabolism Home›Science Posts›The Role of Vitamin A in Bone Metabolism Science PostsBone metabolism is also referred to as bone remodeling and refers to life long procedure that entails the removing of mature bone tissues from the skeleton via the process of bone resorption and this leads to the formation of new bone issues in the body via the process of ossification. This is a process that controls the shaping and replacement of the bone during activities such as growth and as a result of injuries and micro damage that happens during normal body activities. Bone metabolism is also as a result of functional demands due to mechanical loading. This calls for the process of adding the bone where it is required and removing where it is not required. The rate of bone metabolism is high at children where during the first year of life, almost 100% of the bone structure which is the skeleton is replaced. In adults, bone metabolism proceeds at an approximate rate of 10% per annum. The process of bone metabolism requires several nutrients that are taken in as form of food and absorbed to the body. One of the major nutrients that are responsible for the formation of the new bones is vitamin A (John, 2002).One of the roles of Vitamin A     in the body is the bone metabolism. Bone formation in the body requires a diet of calcium in the body; calcium is present in vitamin A. The two major phenomena s that is associated with bone metabolism in the body of an organism includes the parathyroid-induced calcium mobilization and calcitonin-repressed bone calcium.   These nutrients are present in the vitamin A diets, therefore deficiency in vitamin A results to the poor bone formation in the body of an organism. This deficiency results to abnormalities in the collagen metabolism and the bone mineralization, as a result of this, the bone maturation process is not completed.Looking where to BUY AN ESSAY?Save your time and money! The alkaline phosphatase depression in the plasma and the related depression of alkaline phosphatase of bone offer enzymatic evidence that the bone metabolism is certainly affected by vitamin A deficiency in the diet. Serum alkaline phosphate is decreased in hypovitaminosis due to the fact that alkaline phosphate is involved in the remodeling, matrix calcification and remodeling and the resorption of the bone (John, 2002).In a laboratory study by researchers to show the role of vitamin A in the bone metabolism, a study was carried out with hypovitaminotic-A calves, the researchers encouraged bone resorption by stimulating the parathyroid glands to hypertrophy with a high phosphate diet. The results were the presence of microscopic evidence that in vitamin A deficiency the rate of bone resorption by osteolysis was decreased, while bone growth was not affected. Additionally, they attributed the low serum alkaline phosphatase levels in vitamin A-deficient calves only to a decrease in bone resorption. There fore, it is important to note that the deficiency of vitamin A lead to poor bone resorption but not bone growth (John, 2002).According to John (2002) too much intake of Vitamin A is in the body as a result of consumption of very high amounts of vitamin A have major effects on bone, the liver and the skin. however, the findings of studies based at vitamin A intakes in normal diets are conflicting. One population-based observational study in postmenopausal American women found a relationship between high levels of vitamin A intake and hip fracture risk, and a similar population-based study in Swedish men found a relationship between blood retinol levels and the bone fracture in their bodies. Therefore, the intake of Vitamin A in the body should be regul ated not to cause deficiency  due to less intakes or side effects as a result of too much intakes in the body.

Buddhism The Hinayana Sect - 1074 Words

Centuries after the death of Buddha, followers of his teachings multiplied as his influential ideas spread throughout the region. But discontent amongst the followers began to accumulate as Buddha’s vague teachings were constantly interpreted and re-interpreted, leading to many discrepancies. These discrepancies lead to different ideologies and the division of the religious order into various sects. The two main sects became the known as the Mahayana school and the Hinayana school but despite the artificial differences resulting from the division of the Mahayana sect from the earlier Buddhist teachings (Hinayana), the essence of their beliefs is two of the same. The Buddha, in much of his teachings described the concept of nondualism. Stated in the text, â€Å"The Buddha had taught that all things in the phenomenal world are conditioned in nature, brought into being and governed by causes and conditions. At best they can be delineated by what they are not—not permanent, not possessed of any fixed form or self-nature.† (Page 10) I find the Mahayana criticism of the Hinayana sect for its distinctions to be very hypercritical. Victorian Age essays

Victorian Age essays The Victorian Age brought about great changes in all areas of everyday living. There were great political, economical, religious, and social changes which influenced the attitudes and values of the emerging society along with many writers of that time. Countries were rapidly changing from an agricultural to an industrial society. Life during this time was moving at a much faster pace. Although many thought, including Bathd, "of the Victorian Age as a smug complacency, of hypocritical and unhealthy prudery", (Bathd 22) it was much more than that. The Victorian Era marked freedom in a way of which poets felt they had an immediate mission. Alfred Tennyson was among one of the greatest poets of this time. His work completely sums up and expresses the great Victorian Era in which he lived. The Victorian Age lasted from 1837 - 1901. During this time Queen Victoria ruled and her reign was so outstanding it became known as the "Victorian Era". Around this time Victorian England saw great expansion of wealth, power and culture that influenced not only England but most parts of the world. "This was also a time of several unsettling social developments such as the growth of English democracy, the education of the masses, the progress of industrial enterprise and the consequent rise of a materialistic philosophy" (Wright 4). Yet, it can be said without much fear of contradiction that this age represents the glory of the middle classes. The people of this period experienced a rise in their moral sense and social conscience, which animated the middle class. They had a very high moral tone to maintain and managed to do just that. This was due to the fact that Queen Victoria grew up as part of this class. Her ethics, respectability and personal tastes generally reflected tho se belonging to the "great" middle class. Cooke believed "that what made them so Victorian is their sense of social responsibility, a basic attitude that obviously different...

Sharing Content On Social Media More Than Once Slide Deck

Sharing Content On Social Media More Than Once Slide Deck Download slide deck†¦ Sharing your content on social media more than once is one of the best ways to hack your content and bring more traffic to your blog. Its true–just look at this simple chart: Double the traffic. Bam! One of the biggest mistakes we make as bloggers is to give our content the one-tweet treatment. We slave away on our post for hours to only share it with our audience once. This might be costing you traffic. Of course, even if you are already sharing your post more than once – is it really enough? Are your messages as effective as they should be? This week, we are officially releasing this comprehensive (and free) slide deck to tackle these questions head on. In the slides, we outline a step-by-step process for  sharing your post more than once via social media in a way that wont make you look like a spammer or an over-the-top self promoter. It really isnt enough to just promote your content more than once. You need to know how to do it right. Free Slide Deck: How To Share Your Post More Than Once Via Social MediaHow Do I Share Content On Social Media  More Than Once?   The first step in the process really comes down to developing the right type of social sharing schedule. As Ive shared before, the process we use here at looks something like this. Once our blog post goes live, the following sharing schedule immediately takes effect. On publish  Ã¢â‚¬â€œ Social message sent when blog post goes live Same day  Ã¢â‚¬â€œ Initial social messages trickle out to your accounts over the next 2-3 hours. Next day  Ã¢â‚¬â€œ Messages are shared again on the appropriate social channels. Next week  Ã¢â‚¬â€œ Another series of messages are pre-scheduled and sent the following week. Next month  Ã¢â‚¬â€œ Even more social messages are pre-scheduled for the following month. Next _____  Ã¢â‚¬â€œÃ‚  Additional messages can optionally be scheduled for the three-month mark or beyond. Of course, this isnt an exact science. We occasionally (ok, frequently) modify this schedule to suit the content and subject that we are sharing. In fact, we have several evergreen posts that are still shared several times per week, even if it has been months since they were originally published. Another good example of a post that deviated form this schedule was our post about  11 Content Marketing Misconceptions That Make You Sound Dumb. Because this post included 11 different tips that each had their own unique image/cartoon, we spread out the social messages over many weeks, slowly dripping out each unique image. This method of reposting blog content brought us a steady stream of traffic and made it one of the best performing blog posts of the month all because we took the time to properly promote our content on social media. Do This Instead Of Writing Your Next Blog Post Recently, I have started giving writers the permission they need to write less content. That may surprise you. For many years, quantity was king. The more content you could muster, the better. This isnt the case anymore. Now, quality matters, and Google is pretty serious about making people understand that. When it comes to writing your next blog post, put the writing on hold, and spend some time promoting a previous piece of content instead.   To do this, make sure that your social media schedule is well cared for. Are you sharing your content on an even schedule, or are some messages being clumped together? Are your messages unique, or are they just repeating the same old headline and link? Are you missing some big opportunities for reposting blog content? The key is to identify and respond to sharing opportunities that you currently arent taking advantage of, filling in the gaps with great content that you already have in your arsenal. Before you go on creating another piece of content, make sure youve promoted your other stuff well. Before you create another piece of content, make sure that youve promoted the rest of it well. When Sharing Content On Social Media, How Do I Create Something Others Will Share? When reposting our content, not only do we need to share our content more than once, but we need to add some variety to what we are posting as well. It takes very little effort to create a Tweet of Facebook post that uses nothing more than a headline and link. Anyone can do that, and more than likely, youve done it a time or two as well. Try mixing this up. In the slide deck above, we actually outline several new methods that you can use to mix-up your social media content. There are many types of messages that you can choose from. Direct and easy (post title and link) Ask a question (stir up conversation) Cite a fact (from the post itself) Share a quote (like a blockquote) And Intrigue (something special is inside) These simple messages types are easy to learn and remember, and can be quickly adopted by any team. Download the slides, commit them to memory, and make sure to incorporate these types of messages in your social sharing plans. How Do I Optimize My Content For Each Network?

Read an article Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words

Read an article - Essay Example Rothbard presumes that these critiques will be adequate in countering Nozick’s effort to rationalize the state (Rothbard 45). This paper will analyze both Rothbard’s criticisms and Nozick’s ideas against which it is imposed. The evealuation will be based on comparing both Rothbard’s and Nozick’s arguments. Rothbard asserts that Nozick is attempting to conceal his views by not providing evidence of a state that was established or advanced using Nozick views. Rothbard argues that Nozick has not provided any evidence regarding the history of definite States. In contrast, the historical proof points to different arguments. In all the States with adequate facts, they developed by a course of exploitation, violence, and conquest. In arguing that States could have been formed without violating the rights of people, Nozick ignores the probability of exploitation, violence, and conquest, as argued by Rothbard. Therefore, there can be no justification for Noz ick’s existing States because they are presumed to arise from flawless origins and there is none which is in existence. This means that Rothbard is correct in asserting that States develop through a course of exploitation, violence, and conquest and not flawless, as asserted by Nozick’s views (Rothbard 45). ... This may be perceived to be wrong because all individuals have a sense of self-ownership and, therefore, cannot give up their rights so as to be involved in a compulsory agreement. If all people are naturally independent, free, and hold intrinsic rights, they cannot enter into a contract with the State for the sole purpose of developing the State (Rothbard 46). Rothbard goes on to assess the Nozickian stages, specifically the supposed obligation and the morality of the manners in which the different stages progress from the initial ones. Nozick starts by presuming that every anarchist protective organization functions in a moral and non-aggressive way. In Rothbard views, Nozick presumes that all protective organizations would necessitate that all of its customers relinquish the right of reprisal against aggression, by declining to safeguard them against counter-reprisal. In arguing in this manner, Nozick is incorrect because he assumes the responsibilities of different protection org anizations, participating in the market, and is undoubtedly not obvious (Rothbard 46). He neglects the probability of the protective agencies being out-done by different organizations that do not constrain their clients in a similar manner. In addition, Nozick talks about disagreements among customers of dissimilar protection agencies. He provides three situations of how they might advance. Nonetheless, two of these situations entail physical encounters among the agencies. Rothbard claims that these conditions oppose Nozick’s personal presumptions of nonaggressive behavior and good faith by his organizations. Nonetheless, Rothbard’s claim that it would be illogical to suppose the protective agencies would tackle each other in a physical way

The Effects of Stigma and Labeling on Mental Illness...

Mental Illness, that name conjures up a vast array of frightening images in the minds of the general public and media; an unfair image that is stigmatizing for the sufferer. The stigma is also pervasive in the mental health field, where patients who receive treatment are sometimes treated unfairly by the practitioners, who are supposed to help them in the first place. This is what my paper will discuss, the effects of stigma and labeling on patients and their families. I have culled many sources from scholarly papers, that back up my claim. I will describe what I thought of about the articles and how they pertain to the main points I am trying to make. From looking at the study, the number one major concern that the consumers had with the mental h ealth treatments, whether inpatient or outpatient, was the stigma of getting treatment by mental health practitioners and the stigma attached to the labels; both being perpetuated by the general public and the practitioners . I liked how the article talked about how mental health consumers had an income of less than 10,000 and how even though they had someone to take care of them, they still did not have enough money for adequate treatment. This is exactly the point I am trying to make, that adequate mental health treatment is beyond the budget that the average consumer has. The article also talked about how people who are in the public mental health system, had no insurance coverage to get good care; the care they got as described by family members, was like being â€Å"stuck in a spider’s web.† (Sharon Bowland., etc all 2010). She brings up a good analogue because she is describing, how being in the public mental health system is filled with stigma and that it takes a lot of effort to get out of it and receive good care.
